| Long description | ATD News 2 Auto Tracking Densitometer X Rite’s ATD News is the easiest and fastest route to consistent color in newspaper printing. Because of the inability to run traditional color control bars on most news press runs, the ATD News instead relies on gray balance rules or continuous color mastheads to keep color on track. Automation The ATD News system is fast, fast fast. It scans a double truck news ribbon in five seconds, and reports density information immediately. This enables quick ink moves to keep the color on track and can reduce ink use on both short and long runs. Simplicity A single press of a button is all that is required to quickly scan a news ribbon.A touch screen monitor comes standard with the system, enabling rapid, direct selection of page and measurement ID. Using the ATD News is simple—even for users with no prior computer or densitometer experience. ATD News displays a graphical color gauge for each ink zone on press, showing the density values compared to target values. Because balance is a key indicator of color quality, the ATD News display indicates when color is out of balance so adjustments can be made quickly and easily. Versatility ATD News has a pass through track that allows color measurement at any location down a standard news page. For tabloid runs or inserts the color control bar can be positioned at the nip or in the gutter.The system can use any settings for target densities and balance information, making it possible to measure gray bars or continuous color mastheads, including single color black readings as an option. Documentation A key feature of the ATD News is the ability to identify measurements with the page and column information. This can be used to support quality reporting and advertising needs. For multi site publishers and collectives, data can be used to confirm length of run consistency, and may help minimize quality related ad rebates. Tools ATD News includes three modules providing quick system setup, operation, and reporting. The Settings Tool allows a pressroom manager to establish target values for various types of runs. Press operators simply access these targets or IDs during the run, helping to assure that each shift works to the same values. The Press Tool is the normal operating mode used by the press operator to scan and record data.The visual graphic display and touch screen operation make ATD News the easiest to use tool for measuring and controlling color on the market. The Reporting Tool exports data from the scans in standard formats that may be imported to most spreadsheet and analysis packages.
